YMCA Member Code of Conduct
The YMCA is committed to providing a safe, caring, healthy and respectful environment for all members and guests. To promote these values, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when they are using our facilities or participating in our programs.
Our Member Code of Conduct dictates positive interactions with other, language free of anger or vulgarities and with actions at or above a generally accepted standard of conduct. The following conduct can lead to suspension or termination of membership:
- Physical contact with another person in an angry or threatening manner
- Angry or vulgar language including swearing, name calling or shouting
- Any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person
- Harassment of intimidation by words, gestures, body language or any other menacing behavior
- Theft or behavior that results in the destruction of property belonging to members, guests, or the YMCA
- Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices or objects that may be used as weapons
- Using or possessing illegal chemicals, tobacco or alcohol on YMCA property, in YMCA vehicles or at YMCA sponsored programs
- Any other conduct of an inappropriate, threatening or offensive nature
The protection of our members and guests participating in our programs and/or using our facility is a paramount interest of the Owen County Family YMCA. The Owen County Family YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who violates membership the memberships code of conduct.
Carry Your Card
The Y greatly appreciates the opportunity to see your membership card each time you enter our facility. Please have it readily available to scan. Replacement cards are $2.00
While we know parking can be a challenge. We ask that you do not double park or park in the handicapped spaces. Cars not in compliance will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Please make sure to bring a lock while you are using the facility, and take your belongings with you when you leave. The Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Locks are not available for purchase.
|General Facility||Children under the age of 9 must be supervised by an adult at all times. Children age 10-12 must be accompanied by an Adult|
|Child Watch||Ages 6 weeks to 8 years|
|Wellness Center||Members under the age of 14 are not permitted in the fitness center. Members age 14 may use the fitness center under the following conditions: completion of a full equipment orientation by a Wellness Coach|
|Group Exercise Classes||For their safety no children under age 14 are permitted to be in the Group Exercise Room while class is in session. Some classes may be offered or suitable for youth|
|Locker Rooms||Children age 4 and over are not permitted in the opposite sex locker rooms but are encourage to use the family changing rooms. Adults not required to use the family changing rooms are asked to use the regular locker rooms. Use of cell phones and photo equipment is not permitted within the locker rooms.|
Membership Service Promise
YMCA staff recognizes that service to our members is the most important part of our job. Therefore, we make this promise:
Our staff members will be friendly, attentive, and demonstrate caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We will keep our facilities and equipment clean, safe, and well maintained. We will deliver quality programs that meet the needs of our members and guest. We will provide opportunities for members to be involved as volunteers.
Convenient in-house childcare is available to parents while they exercise or participate in a program. Child care is available to children ages 6 weeks – 8 years. Our child watch area is conveniently located close to the Wellness Center and Group Exercise Class room. Our well trained staff engages the children in fun and play while you enjoy your visit at the Y.
