Resolve to Improve Overall Fitness & meet your Personal Fitness Goals in 2016!

Cost: $50 Members/$100 Non-members (includes a card for individual YMCA admission during the Challenge) * YMCA joining fee will be waived for anyone participating in Y Fit Life Challenge who purchases YMCA membership (individual or family) of at least 6 months.

Challengers Will Receive:

  • The chance to compete for cash prizes based on improved scores on your personal fitness assessment and participation in a variety of wellness activities.
  • The support, encouragement, and accountability of peers.
  • Y Fit Life T-shirt.
  • An initial and final personal fitness assessment
  • Opportunities to participate in a variety of athletics, aerobics classes, mind/body classes, strength & conditioning activities, nutrition classes and activities and other events for Challengers
  • Additional discounts on personal training, exercise classes, and YMCA membership

Y Fit Life Challenge Objectives:

  • To encourage healthy people to improve overall health and fitness through cross training and better nutrition
  • To foster healthy relationships that will encourage individuals to continue healthy lifestyles throughout their lives

What YOU Must Do to Be Eligible to Win

  1. Initial Fitness Assessment – (to measure strength, flexibility, and endurance) Appointments available January 6-11. Allow at least 45 minutes. Please schedule your appointment when you register for Y Fit Life Challenge. Appointment times will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
  2. Participation – You must participate in a minimum of 1 program in each category (athletics, aerobic fitness, strength & conditioning, mind/body, nutrition) on the Y Fit Life Challenge 2016 Activity Calendar before March 29, in order to be considered as a finalist in Y Fit Life Challenge. Most programs are approximately one hour. Please go to www.owencountyymca.org to check on possible cancellations/reschedules due to severe weather.
  3. Final Fitness Assessment – Appointments available March 23-29. Please stop by The Y member services desk and schedule your appointment after February 1st and before March 15th. Appointment times will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

First, second and third place will be awarded based on percentage of improvement from Initial Fitness Assessment to Final Fitness Assessment and participation in activities listed on Y Fit Life Challenge 2016 Activity Calendar

January-March Y Fit Life 2016 Calendar

Participants must complete a minimum of one program in each category (Athletics, Aerobic Fitness, Mind/Body, Nutrition,  Strength & Conditioning) to be considered as a finalist in the Challenge.   Participants completing 2 in each category will receive .1% added and those completing 3 or more in each category will receive .2% added to their final score.  Please see the Y Fit Life Challenge 2016 Activities Calendar for dates and times.   No substitutions please.  Ties will be broken by overall attendance at the YMCA.  Don’t forget to scan your card when you enter and sign the attendance sheets at all Y Fit Life Challenge Activities!
